Public safety is a top priority for the City. The City is dedicated to providing the resources necessary to keep residents feeling safe.

Police 

Our primary mission is to maintain peace and order by providing the highest quality police service in response to community needs by apprehending criminals, developing partnerships, and respecting individuals by protecting the lives and property of the citizens of the City. The Indian Wells Police Department addresses its mission statement by practicing problem-solving and Community-Oriented Policing. The men and women who serve this community work together in a problem solving partnership with communities, government agencies, private groups, and individuals to fight crime and improve the quality of life for the residents and visitors of Indian Wells.

The City of Indian Wells contracts with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department for these services. Currently, patrol staffing consists of twenty-four hours per day, seven days a week, three hundred and sixty-five days per year. In addition, the City has a dedicated Lieutenant, one full-time motor enforcement officer and two full-time Special Enforcement Team officers.

Fire 

Fire services for the City of Indian Wells are provided through a cooperative agreement with the State of California (Cal-Fire) and the County of Riverside. Cal-Fire/Riverside County Fire Department is an all risk, full service fire department and has a fire station located strategically within the City of Indian Wells with provide highly effective protection. Additionally, because of this regional cooperative agreement, the City benefit from resources responding from other nearby station, ensuring that peak loads and major incidents are handled promptly. This reduces loss of life and property while helping to keep cost down. The men and women of Cal-Fire/Riverside County Fire Department are dedicated to their mission of protecting lives, property and natural resources within the City of Indian Wells.

Animal Service/Animal Control

The City of Indian Wells contracts with Riverside County’s Department of Animal Services for animal control, licensing, impound services and more.
