Meet Lieutenant Frank M. Schiavone
Dear Residents of Indian Wells,
I am both honored and deeply humbled to have been appointed as the Assistant Chief of Police for the City of Indian Wells. I take this responsibility to heart, and I am committed to working alongside our incredible team of officers and city staff to uphold the safety, trust, and integrity that make this community truly special.
Indian Wells is a place where families, visitors, and neighbors come together to build lasting connections. As Assistant Chief, my primary goal is to ensure that we continue to be a community where residents feel safe, respected, and valued. We will strive to maintain a proactive approach to law enforcement that emphasizes prevention, swift response, and strong community partnerships.
Our department will continue to build on its legacy of community policing, a philosophy that emphasizes collaboration and transparency. We recognize that the most effective policing occurs when we work together—whether it's through neighborhood watch programs, public safety initiatives, or simply having an open dialogue about the concerns that matter most to you.
I am eager to hear your thoughts, concerns, and suggestions on how we can work together to improve the safety and quality of life in our city. Together, we can identify innovative solutions that help prevent crime, respond to emergencies swiftly, and ensure that every resident feels heard and supported.
I understand that trust is the foundation of any successful police department, and I am committed to building and maintaining that trust through transparency, accountability, and open communication. If you ever have a question, concern, or suggestion, my contact information is listed below. Your voice matters.

Community Oriented Policing
The Indian Wells Police Department embraces the concept of Community-Oriented Policing. Community-Oriented Policing is a philosophy of full-service, personalized policing where the same officer is assigned to a specific geographical area on a permanent basis, working in a proactive partnership with citizens to identify and solve problems. The focus of Community-Oriented Policing is not simply on responding to crime, but on preventing crime and resolving community problems. The philosophy rests on the belief that the police and the community must work together as partners to solve the contemporary challenges faced in today's society. Community-oriented police officers are empowered with the autonomy and freedom to act as needed in order to implement and participate in community-based problem solving efforts. Officers work closely with other organizations and community groups to educate community members about potential hazards they may encounter and how to reduce the likelihood of becoming a victim of crime; to identify the problems, concerns and fears of community members; to identify and eliminate hazards that may promote crime or disorder; and to improve the overall quality of life in the community.
As with all community-orientated programs, a good working relationship with those who live and work in these areas is essential for success. Please feel free to call Lieutenant David Wright at (760) 836-1600, who can arrange for you to meet with the deputies working in your area.
Education
Community education is a key component of Crime Prevention and is one of the main focuses. Through these programs, residents of all ages can partner with the Sheriff’s Department to keep themselves and the community safe.
