The Annual Indian Wells Arts Festival is held in April at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden – the home of the BNP Paribas Open. Thousands attend this premier, juried fine arts festival where more than 200 award-winning artists transform the magnificent path-lined plaza into a spectacular artisan village. Works represented include painting, drawing, ceramics, glass, photography, sculpture, jewelry, apparel and hand-crafted wares.
You don’t need to be an art aficionado to enjoy the Indian Wells Arts Festival. Everyone loves to watch the on site demonstrations including glass blowing, painting, weaving, large scale stone sculpturing, mural painting, wood carving and pottery throwing. Festival highlights also include “Chef Masterpieces,” a private tasting presented by local chefs and sponsored by the Indian Wells Chamber of Commerce, gourmet market, wine tasting, musical entertainment, children’s activities, and refreshments.
The Indian Wells Arts Festival incorporates a number of local charities as partners and donates to their art scholarship funds. Participating organizations have included College of the Desert Art Guild, The Children’s Discovery Museum of the Desert, Student Creative Recycle Art Program (SCRAP) Gallery, The Braille Institute, The Champions Volunteer Foundation, and Palm Desert Soroptomist.
