The City Clerk is the local elections administrator and coordinates with the Riverside County Registrar of Voters in the conduct of Municipal elections. Regular elections are consolidated with statewide elections, scheduled on the first Tuesday of November of even numbered years to fill expired City Council terms. All election services are provided according to the California Elections Code.
November General Municipal Election
The City of Indian Wells scheduled General Municipal Election is on November 3, 2026. The election is for two (2) Council Member at-large seats, all serve a four-year term.
Qualified for Candidacy:
- Be a registered voter and reside within the jurisdiction at the time nomination papers are issued
- Reside in the district in which you are running for Council seats
- A citizen of the United States
- 18 years of age or older
Nomination Filing Period
Nomination filing period opens July 13, 2026, and closes on August 7, 2026. If an incumbent fails to file by the deadline, the nomination period will be extended through August 12, 2026.

City of Indian Wells Signs on City Property and Right of Way
Campaign signs are not allowed on City property or within the public right of way, including streets, parks, medians, landscaping, City facilities, poles, or utility boxes.
The City may remove and dispose of improperly placed signs without notice and is not liable for any damage or loss.
