The Finance Services Department provides professional stewardship of the City’s financial resources and ensures the integrity, accountability, and transparency of all fiscal operations. The Department manages the City’s budgeting, accounting, and financial reporting processes in compliance with applicable laws, best practices, and established policies, supporting both operational needs and long-term fiscal sustainability. Finance Services prepares the Annual Budget and the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report, coordinates audits, administers payroll and accounts payable/receivable activities, and provides timely financial analysis and advice to the City Manager, City Council, and department leadership to inform sound decision-making and strategic planning. The Finance Services Department fosters public trust through responsive service and clear communication of financial information.
IW Open Check Book is the City’s interactive transparency platform that provides the public with accessible, detailed financial information. The tool allows users to explore the City of Indian Wells’ revenues, expenditures, and budget data for the current fiscal year, as well as for prior years, by department, fund, category, or vendor. It presents financial activity from high-level summaries down to individual transactions and vendor payments and includes payroll data where available. This resource reinforces the City’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and public engagement by making financial data easy to search, understand, and use.
