Dear Indian Wells Residents,
For those who went away for the summer, welcome back to Indian Wells! While the community may have been quiet, the City worked diligently to enhance the quality of life through several capital improvement projects, and secured various local and regional funding solutions. Road projects along Washington Street and Miles Avenue are now complete. These projects are intended to improve tennis tournament traffic and safety during next year’s BNP Paribas Open.
At last month’s City Council meeting, the Council continued Indian Wells’ commitment to provide regional solutions to address homelessness in the Coachella Valley. Indian Wells, as well as many other cities in the Coachella Valley, have provided $125,000 in funding to the Coachella Valley Association of Governments (CVAG) to address homelessness. In addition, the City of Indian Wells has pledged $125,000 to the Coachella Valley Rescue Mission and Martha’s Village & Kitchen to provide shelter and services to individuals and families across the Coachella Valley.
Indian Wells continues to invest in our community by increasing our Grants-in-Aid and Homeless Services funding programs. These initiatives are vital for supporting organizations throughout the Coachella Valley by expanding programs to create a more inclusive and supportive environment for those facing hardship. This year, Indian Wells will dedicate over $500,000 to local non-profits to provide services in the Coachella Valley.
In other news, the Players Course renovations are wrapping up at the Indian Wells Golf Resort! The Players Course will reopen to the public this November, with a Grand Opening celebration planned for December 2 at 9 a.m. We are eager to welcome you back to the newly improved course, which is sure to enhance the golfing experience for residents and visitors alike.
This fall promises to be an exciting time in Indian Wells, with many events and activities planned. If you have questions, feel free to call (760) 346-2489 or visit us at City Hall.
Best Wishes,
Dr. Chris Freeland
City Manager
