The City of Indian Wells is pleased to welcome Deputy Austin Travis Cook as the newest member of its Special Enforcement Team (SET).
Deputy Cook served for eight years in the United States Navy as an aircrewman before joining the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. During his time in the Navy, he graduated from California Baptist University with a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and a Master’s degree in Psychology.
Deputy Cook joined the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department in 2021 as a Deputy Sheriff. Over the past four years, he has demonstrated a high level of commitment and dedication to the communities he serves and his fellow deputies. Recently, he was appointed as a Field Training Officer for newly sworn deputies.
As a Deputy Sheriff, Deputy Cook investigated complex cases and patrolled Coachella Valley communities, including the cities of Palm Desert, Rancho Mirage, Thousand Palms, Palm Springs, Indian Wells and the unincorporated areas of Desert Hot Springs.
Outside of work, Deputy Cook is a husband, father and involved community member who understands the importance of strong and efficient collaboration between law enforcement and residents.
Deputy Cook is eager to collaborate with City personnel and community members to help keep Indian Wells a safe and enjoyable place to live, work and play. Be sure to say “hi” if you see him around!
