UPDATE: The City has been notified that a firefighter sustained moderate injuries and was taken to a local hospital during yesterday's fire. The City wishes him a speedy recovery. The original statement is below.

The City of Indian Wells would like to inform residents that a residential fire occurred earlier today in the 45500 block of Santa Fe Cove. Thanks to the prompt response from Cal Fire and the Indian Wells Police Department, the fire was quickly contained to a single residence, which unfortunately suffered major damage. We are grateful to report that all occupants were immediately accounted for, and no injuries were reported.

The City of Indian Wells Public Works and Edison crews also responded promptly to assist at the scene. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. For further information or inquiries, please contact the Indian Wells Fire Department directly.

 If you observed, or have surveillance footage showing, members of the police or fire departments in your backyard or knocking on your door, please know this was simply out of an abundance of caution, as emergency personnel were working to initiate evacuations in the event the fire spread.
