Indian Wells, CA – It’s Sunday. You’ve scheduled a contractor and crew to take care of a long-awaited renovation project at your home. Halfway through the project, the city code enforcement officer knocks at your door and halts the work. Why?
What you likely didn’t know is that Indian Wells has a strict noise ordinance in place, designed to enhance overall quality of life in the city. This ordinance designates allowable hours for work on construction and maintenance landscape projects, unless a temporary waiver is granted by the city planning director.
“We hope that by providing this information to residents, this will help them streamline project costs by scheduling work crews as per city regulations, and also provide a tranquil environment in Indian Wells neighborhoods on weekends and holidays,” says Mel Windsor, the city’s personnel and public safety director.
The allowable days and hours are: Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. until 5 p.m., and Saturdays from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Please note that construction crews and landscapers are not permitted to work in Indian Wells on Sundays or National Holidays (New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Day, Presidents Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day and day after Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day).
For more information, call Matt Creason at the City of Indian Wells, (760) 346-2489.
