PLASTIC BAGS

recycling_program

Everyone can do their part to participate in reducing, reusing and recycling plastic bags. The City encourages your efforts to reduce the use of plastic bags that clog our waterways and open spaces, harm birds and other wildlife and blight our community. The simple choice to reduce our dependence on plastic bags and to recycle those that we have, results in longer-lasting impacts for cleaner and healthier environments. It is inevitable that some plastic bags may make their way into even the most pro-active home.

The City of Indian Wells will now happily accept those bags and will in turn guarantee their “reuse” by donating them to local non-profit food banks that will use the bags in their food distribution process. COLLECTION CONTAINER IS LOCATED NEAR THE FRONT DOOR AT CITY HALL.

Besides the expected benefits of cleaner streets and waterways and open spaces, you will be contributing to increased awareness on recycling.

Please note: plastic bags may carry the “recyclable” symbol however; in this community, there is no facility that can recycle them. So, please do NOT place them in your residential recycling containers.

The City would like to encourage the public to look at this effort as simple and effective. Thank you for your support of this most worthwhile program.
