Planning Department
Planning Director Corrie Kates and crew review and critique proposed residential and commercial projects to ensure quality of life and high-quality building standards for the community. Corrie also supervises the Building Division, (760) 776-0230, which enforces the Uniform Building Codes and city ordinances that regulate residential and commercial construction.
Responsibilities of Corrie and his department include:
Planning Department
- Enforcing planning regulations and policies
- Performing inspections of residential and commercial buildings
- Establishing architectural and landscaping criteria for residential and commercial development
- Overseeing the City Planning Commission and the Architecture and Landscape Committee
Building Division:
- Issuing home and commercial building permits
- Reviewing and approving construction plans
- Conducting on-site inspections
- Investiging complaints of violations of city housing and construction codes
