HEAL Program
The City of Indian Wells has launched an innovative new program to help city homeowners invest in energy efficiency and save money!
Indian Wells Home Energy Assistance Link (aka “IW HEAL”) offers monetary incentives that are designed to assist you, as an Indian Wells homeowner, to improve energy efficiency in your home. The IW HEAL program offers a wide range of opportunities for Indian Wells residents to become more energy efficient. Plus, the program enhances the existing portfolio of programs and rebates offered by electrical, gas and water providers.
IW HEAL program guidelines are simple: Incentives are available for qualifying homeowners on a first come, first-served basis. City homeowners are eligible to receive incentives only for items purchased between January 1, 2008 and December 31, 2008. Incentives are limited to twenty percent (20%) of the purchase (including installation), not to exceed $500 per year. The City of Indian Wells has budgeted $100,000 for the inaugural year of the IW HEAL program.
Southern California Edison, in partnership with The Gas Company, is also offering free in-home energy audits which quickly identify your household’s largest energy consuming appliances. Contact: www.sce.com or check with the product manufacturers and utility providers as well as the State of California for additional financial incentives. ( www.flexyourpower.org )
WHY HEAL NOW?
How we use energy is just as important as how it is produced and where it comes from. The more efficient we are, the less we need. The less we need, the less we use, and the less harm we do to the environment. The City of Indian Wells believes energy efficiency is one of the most important issues that we will face in the 21st century. To this end, the city has developed IW HEAL to minimize electricity and natural gas use in homes, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and, at the same time, maximize savings on utility costs.
Residents are encouraged to participate in programs that support clean, renewable energy. Thank you for your participation and for doing your part to conserve our valuable resources and contribute to a cleaner and healthier environment.
